Fishing

There are numerous spots to wet a line and try your luck for a fish, from angling in nearby creeks and rivers to surf fishing along the coast. Experienced fishers can try for a range of species including King George Whiting, Calamari, Gummy Shark and Snapper which are all caught from the beach or rocks along our coast. Bushwalking

One of the most diverse regions in Victoria, Lorne is spoiled for choice when it comes to bushwalking. Backing onto the Great Otway National Park, walk beneath ancient forests and explore any number of pristine waterfalls. The perfect activity all year round, see the wonders of the rainforest in contrast to the coastal landscapes.  Immerse yourself in some of Australia’s best rainforest scenery in the Otway Ranges amongst tall trees, ancient plant life and lush ferns.  Enjoy the great outdoors and explore the wonders of The Otways at the same time. Waterfalls

Set out from camp and head upstream the pristine Erskine River. Not far up stream you’ll find the cascades, popular with local kids as nature’s waterslide.  For the more experienced walker, take the 7.5km track all the way up to the 30m long Erskine Falls to see one of the longest drops in the region, passing Straw Falls and Splitter Falls along the way.  Or, hop in the car to explore ten different waterfalls, all within easy reach of town.

4WD

Come rain, hail or shine, Four Wheel Driving is a great way to cover some serious ground and see the amazing wildlife and flora in the area. Surfing

The pristine beaches are at your doorstep and offer the perfect waves for both beginners and the more advanced surfer. With all water related activities you should always be careful.  If you are a learner, we recommend you take a lesson or hire a board with one of the following accredited surf schools who are licensed and insured to provide lessons along our coastline:

Rockpools

A must for inquisitive minds, explore the wonders of the ocean at low tide. With amazing wildlife including crabs, starfish, sting rays, cuttlefish, squid, pufferfish, sea snails and more in the rockpools, you’ll be amazed. Take the torch out after dark, and if you’re super lucky you might even an octopus!

Take a drive

The iconic Great Ocean Road is a must for those visiting. The perfect day outing, pack yourself a picnic and explore the winding turns that wrap around the picturesque Victorian coastline. Head to the Twelve Apostles to see Victoria’s most iconic landmark and enjoy the journey along the world’s biggest war memorial. The rich blue of the ocean will leave you amazed as you journey further down the coast.

Explore the Otways

There’s a long list of things to do in the Otways Ranges which ranges from exploring the rainforests at the Otway Fly, to sampling the best food and wine in the region. There’s also a staggering number of breathtaking waterfalls and walks in this area.
